The short version, and the long one

Weekend brunch started as a Sunday-only experiment in 2016 and now accounts for a third of what the café does in a week. The dining room turns over about four times between 9 and noon, and the patio adds twenty-two seats from late May through the first hard frost.

We do not take reservations for parties under eight. If you put your name down at the host stand you will get a text when the table is ready, and you are welcome to wait next door or on the marketplace benches.

  • 1Weekend-only cookingSix plates on this menu never appear Monday through Friday, including both pancake variations.
  • 2Room for a real groupWe seat parties up to ten with a day of notice, and the back corner holds twelve.
  • 3A patio that catches the morningThe Church Street side gets full sun until about 11:30, which is the whole point in April.

What comes with it

  • A kitchen that runs brunch only, so tickets do not compete with lunch
  • Bakery basket pastries chosen that morning by whoever is on the bench
  • Patio seating from late May to the first hard frost, twenty-two seats
  • Text-ahead waitlist so you are not standing in the doorway
  • High chairs, booster seats and a changing table in both restrooms
  • Bottomless drip coffee with any plate for $5

The weekend brunch list

A longer, richer menu for the two days a week nobody is in a hurry. Brunch takes over the whole kitchen from 8 am until the last ticket at 2 pm.

How it gets made

Four steps, in order, every day. Nothing here is a secret.

  1. 1

    Put your name in

Walk up to the host stand or tap the waitlist link on your phone from the sidewalk. We text when the table is fifteen minutes out.

  2. 2

    Order in one round

Brunch tickets fire together so a table eats together. Tell your server everything at once, including the bakery basket.

  3. 3

    Kitchen fires by table

Pancakes and benedicts are timed backwards from the longest item so nothing sits under a lamp.

  4. 4

    Coffee keeps coming

A runner walks the room with a pot every eight minutes. Flip your cup when you are done.

Right at 8 am, or after 12:45. The longest wait is 9:45 to 11:15 on Sunday, which runs about thirty minutes.

Occasionally, on a busy Sunday around 1 pm. We mix a fixed amount of batter because the ricotta is whipped fresh.

Yes. The front two tables and the patio have room to park one without blocking the aisle.
